We each tried some thing different at Luna's. My mom tried the salmon bruscetta, my spouse had the chicken club and we all shared my pizza with pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms. Everything was very tasty. The server was friendly and helpful as it was our first time in the restaurant. We would recommend them to anyone in the area.

Had the steak sandwich that was pretty tasty, served on a toasted baguette and mom had the bbq sandwich which was good too! and our server was great! my favorite is still the buffalo shrimp that they have with bleu cheese and their salads

Our family lives Luna 2! We honestly can not figure out why the reviews here aren't great. We love the cheese garlic bread and Caesar salad to start with. Their pizza is delicious - better than Grimaldi's in Brooklyn if you ask us (and no 2 hour wait like Grimaldi's)! They have a fair selection of beers on tap including Troegs and Chimay. We have ordered wraps to go once on our way out of town and they were also delicious!

This restaurant is close to home and the food is good, so I've eaten there many times. The salads, pizza and sausage sandwiches are excellent and a good value. The Aegean and Misto salads are unique and very, very good. I do have a couple minor gripes. The building the restaurant is in is an old pizza hut, and the atmosphere is a step down from the high quality of the food. The can lights over the booths in the center of the restaurant are very strong downward facing and glare like crazy off my glasses, avoid the center seating if you wear glasses. Some things are a bit random, some days salads come with dressing on them, some days they are on the side. The menu has been unchanged for a long time, some seasonal or annual variation would be a nice touch. The staff has always been friendly, attentive, and orders are right. I'm glad to have this restaurant nearby.

Oh, but the Quattro formagio pizza with mushrooms is to die for with delicate and balanced cheeses, and enough chewiness to whet any appetite. Add beer? Ten assorted and distinctive brews always available! Delightful!

Updating because I think they might have updated their menu. We got a couple of chicken parm sandwiches for takeout recently, and we're very pleased. The chicken was grilled- or rather roasted, and I think they must have done it in their brick oven. It had a delightful smoky flavor that actually worked beautifully with the flavorful marinara and cheese. The roll was actually decent too. I usually avoid chicken parm because you typically end up with a heavy, greasy mess soaking through a limp soggy bun. This held together, tasted good, and most importantly, wasn't at all greasy. So they're up a notch, and I might even give their pizza one last chance.

Went for a late lunch on a Saturday. There were about 6 tables occupied and service was okay and the food was decent. I had chicken parm sub with baked beans (also came with chips). My wife has mushroom swiss burger with coleslaw. Chicken parm was good. It was roasted and shredded chicken, versus a fried cutlet, in sauce on an amoroso bun with provolone. Beans were delicious. My wife's burger was undercooked. She ordered medium well and got closer to medium rare but she enjoyed most of it. It had good flavor. Lunch for 2 took less than an hour and cost $25 with tip. Not too bad. Don't have much to compare to, at Faccia Luna, as I've only had there pizza, but compared to other restaurants in the neighborhood, of the mall, it is pretty good, but we probably would not go out of our way to eat here again.

One of my favorite places to eat in State College. The Aegean salad is wonderful and I also love the pizza!

I really like going to Luna 2! There aren't a lot of options for good food between State College (where I work) and Bellefonte (where I live) so I was psyched when they opened. My boyfriend and I regularly order take out and pick it up on the way home. They take care to pack things separately that might otherwise end up soggy by the time you get home. Our favorite menu items include: the misto salad with a portobello mushroom cap added, the tomato mozzarella bruschetta, and the salmon salad. They make all their salad dressings there, so if you're a salad fan, give them a try. For someone who normally avoids ranch dressing, I LOVE their homemade version! Luna 2 isn't intended to be an exact copy of the original Faccia Luna, so the menu is similar, but they have their own style. In the warmer months, there is outdoor seating. It's really pleasant to sit outside and enjoy a beer on a summer evening.

There are two reasons to dine at Luna 2 (or it's predecessor, Faccia Luna, also in State College) and that is for pizza anytime or for fresh seafood Friday nights. The pizza is wood fired and always exceptional in either location. The pepperoni is purchased from an Italian shop locally which has been in business for generations. But the fresh seafood- you won't believe it. The owner obtains it fresh from Baltimore every Friday and serves it on Friday nights. They definitely have the best, chunkiest, purest crab cakes you will ever sample. Most of the time, they also feature scallops, salmon, and other fish depending on the season- Chilean Sea Bass, swordfish, halibut, etc. It is so good that when we go to the eastern shore (Atlantic) for vacations, we are always disappointed in the quality of the seafood as compared to Luna 2. I kid you not. Don't be over-concerned about the looks of the place- it is a remodeled Pizza Hut so there were restrictions to the design. But, having said that, it is not at all an unattractive property. The wait-staff are always friendly, well-trained, and helpful, and the owner can often be seen working/dining on the premises.

Went here after walking out of Garfields. The Pizza was fantastic, and the soup was pretty good also. Prices were reasonable and the service was very good even though they were busy. Will return here when back in the area.

I've been here a bunch of times as a former Houservillian... seafood on weekends is excellent, pizza is good, salads are great (I really like the champagne vinagrette). This is about as good as it gets in State College for the price; I'm not really sure where the negative reviews come from. It's humorous that it is in a former Pizza Hut, but you wouldn't know that unless you've lived in the area for quite some time; it's a nice atmosphere with appropriate decor.

Matt and I went here for our FIRST date since E was born - the grandparents babysat and we had a great time! :) we started off with the smoke salmon and capers bruschetta - YUM, they were delicious, but a little pricey.. i think we got 3 of them for $8.50? but whatever... first date. :) then we split a large artichoke heart and tomato pizza which was amazing! I actually can't believe we consumed a large between the two of us... maybe it was a small large? or maybe it was just that good! we also ordered their house chianti which was surprisingly good and really really strong... i was buzzing pretty good by the time we left the restaurant, i guess that's what happens when you never drink. all in all it was a great restaurant date - good food, good wine, good company! I'd recommend it to all who want a good basic pizza place.

The pizzas and the salads here are the only things worth ordering. My group ordered a pizza as an appetizer, and we wish we had ordered it as a main course after the entrees arrived. They were all three very bland and lower than Olive Garden quality. The pizza however was superb!

More of the same from the Luna crew. With 3 people in our party we each got our meals 15-20 mins apart. C'mon! Isn't that restaurant 101? Is it hard to send out a table's food all at once so they can eat together? Our server did her best, but the kitchen seemed to have screwed her. Just like the old Faccia the help always seems overwhelmed. As for the food it was meh. The BBQ Salmon looked ok but was nothing special. The fish was most definitely frozen at one time. Pretty sure I have bought it in the freezer at Wegman's before. You know the farm raised, color enhanced kind. Not fresh caught. The Scallops were a bit too firm/rubbery for me. Not bad enough to send back but definitely will not order them again. The mashed potatoes and the asparagus were pretty good. Should have kept it simple and went with a pizza I guess.

Decent, but why isn't the menu as good as Facia Luna??? The pizza while still wood fired isn't even half as tasty as the original and best pizza in State College.

So I am a huge, huge fan of Faccia Luna and I have been frequenting it for years. Ever since I moved from State College, I've been eating there every trip home. So on my last visit I thought I'd try their "new location"...upon sitting down, the menu looked almost identical. So I ordered my usual. Unfortunately, the menu was where the similarities ended. My list of complaints for Luna 2: 1. No dinner salad included with the entrees. I paid $4.50 for a small caesar salad (usually it's only $1.50 for an "upgrade" to caesar), and it was actually SMALLER than the one at Faccia Luna and did not have any tomatoes...seriously? 2. The tomato bruschetta was EXTREMELY small. Recipe for the topping seemed the same and quality of the mozzarella was good. But the worst part, the bread was completely untoasted! Hello, that is the literal definition of bruschetta!! You can't HAVE bruschetta without grilling/toasting the bread. Plus it was spelled wrong on the menu. 3. The pizza was horrible. The sauce was still the good old homemade stuff, and I had no problem with the cheese, but the crust wasn't good at all. The texture was totally off and it lacked the seasoning that makes Faccia Luna's pizza so good. Also, it was a bit undercooked. 4. But none of this would have mattered if they would have gotten the pasta right. Of course, they didn't. Sadly, the pasta was the worst part of the meal. I go to Faccia Luna for their amazing homemade linguine with its distinctive squiggly shape and chewy texture. Of course I had high expectations for their sister restaurant but...oh god...this pasta was literally some of the worst pasta I've ever eaten. It looked like it was straight out of the box, and tasted like mush. To cook pasta anything over al dente is a mortal sin in my book. I was done. I couldn't even eat it. I told the server I was full and took it home...where I prompty threw it out. FYI, the vodka sauce was great, but it just couldn't save this disaster. So what I'm saying is, DO NOT go to Luna 2. Ever. I would rather eat at Olive Garden than this horrible excuse for an Italian restaurant. Most of all, I'm disappointed that Faccia Luna would even put their name on this establishment. Fingers crossed the quality of the original hasn't slipped as well, or I will lose all faith in State College dining.

The place is awesome. Every time I come I order on the chefs or bartenders recommendation. It is always awesome!!!

I had such a bad experience, I started a yelp account. Our server, Dana, could not remember the specials for the night. She also could not remember them 25 minutes later when another couple was seated behind us. Luna2 is loud, noisy and cold. Dana checked on us once during our meal, which was 5 minutes after we finished eating. She never refilled our drinks. We ordered medium-well burgers which were served after people who were seated after us were served. The "Angus" was well done (not medium), gray and grainy. After she dropped off our check, she met with the table next to us 2x, stood behind the counter and talked with the other 5 waitresses for 5 minutes while drinking. We finally took our check up out of frustration. To top it off, Dana had a very large, very dry coldsore. I expect that at McDonalds, but not when I'm buying a $10 gourmet burger. Don't bother. Go to Faccia Luna, or better yet, Olde New York. I will never go here again.

Love Luna (on Atherton). It has great pizza, great pasta, great soup, and great salad. Luna (the original) is really great. So about to leave State College for a long trip, before going on the highway, took my family here just for a quick bite before leaving. What a mistake - last time to visit this "branch" of the restaurant. We were four of us - so we each ordered something. None worked out really well... Service - no smile. In fact, just sort of grouchy. Very slow. Food: - Pizza is so weak, it is unimaginable that it has the same name as the original Luna. The Pizza there is so great and here so weak. Amazing. - Italian wedding soup - usually a good thing at the original, very weak here as well. - Hamburger - so-so. I know, why have a hamburger at an Italian restaurant? Well, I just felt like one when seeing it on the menu. A mistake. - Chicken Cesar wrap - "so so" is best. Way too salty. The Hamburger and Chicken wrap came with potato chips and coleslaw. The coleslaw was also extremely weak. Bottom line - I'll never come to this restaurant again. Will return to Luna - to eat, and to complain about Luna 2. But this place should be shut down or should not be allowed to carry the Luna name. Unforgettably bad!

Stopped because it wasnt packed like the other places I intended on going. Service was excellent. Very attentive, super bartender/waitress. The food was good. I had the buffalo shrimp. It was spicy and the ranch was good. Didnt have that bottled store bought taste. It got the flat iron steak sanswich also because my waitress recommended it. It was good. The steak was a little over done for my taste bit was still good. I qill definitely be back. Not a bad choice of draft beer either.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
